Company Leadership

William J. Vakos, Jr.

Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer

William J. Vakos, III

William J. Vakos, III (Bill) is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Vakos Companies, a full-service real estate development company located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Like in so many family businesses, Bill spent his youth working for the company in whatever role was required. After graduation from Old Dominion University, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration, Bill returned to the family business working in marketing, sales and leasing.  In the early 2000’s the company began developing its two premier projects, Southpoint and Spotsylvania Courthouse Village. Under Bill’s leadership, these communities today total nearly 800 acres of “true” mixed-use, bringing thousands of jobs to Spotsylvania and greatly expanding the county’s tax base. In 2009, Bill became President and Chief Operating Officer where he continues to serve today. In his role as President, Bill oversees every aspect of the company’s operations with assets exceeding over $250 million dollars.

Bill is also active in his community where he serves on the Board of Directors for Virginia Partners Bank, as a Deacon and Chairman of the Stewardship Committee at Spotswood Baptist Church. Bill and his wife Tricia are proud parents of son Collin, a recent Liberty University graduate and daughter Grace, a sophomore at Liberty University pursuing a nursing degree.

On any typical work day, you may find Bill enjoying what he loves to do, working with his father, Bill Vakos Jr., and his son, Collin at their Spotsylvania offices.
